I've searched and searched, and spent $300.00 and then some upgrading the speakers in the front and back. I have the metal trays that fold out, and would prefer to keep them. Anybody buy a tubed subwoofer that will fit behind the seats WITH the trays that sounds decent? I'm not trying to attract horny 18 year old girls or irritate trucks or cars next to me, but I'd like some bass in my truck costing under 5000 dollars.
I recently went thru something similar and ended up removing that metal tray deal under the seats and installed my subs under the seat. I ended up with two 10" subs and my amp all under the seat looks very neat and works great. Honestly I never used those trays under my seat. What the heck can you do with that tray anyway??
By the way, I am DEFINETLEY trying to attract horny young women.... Lol

I'm attracted to horny young women too, but my wife of 22 years isn't. I use the metal trays all the time. With the seats up, you can slide heavy, bulky crap across them without damaging the carpet. If it fits in there, I use the back seat.
I purchased a box from supercrew sound which was custom made for the backs of our trucks. It does delete the fold out platform, but I've never found a use for it anyway. I always prefer to keep my trucks as stock as possible, but the tradeoff is really worth it IMO.
I sourced two matching 10" Infinity sub-woofers off crutchfeild and ordered them for about 1/2 the listed price off ebay. I did the same thing with a 500w Alpine MRP-M500 amp which drives both of them.
I've also got another 300 watt amp driving my aftermarket door speakers, and a high quality aftermarket head unit.
It should be noted that I pretty much strictly listen to country music with the occasional blues or rock mixed in (No rap or hip-hop at all). I didn't think it would make as much difference as it does. It's very subtle but it's one of the things that I can't live without now. I get enjoyment out of actually "feeling" the music now; and I'm not talking about "bumping" at traffic lights.
The sound system in my truck is the single best mod I've done. Hands down.
Look at using a Stealthbox set up from JL. It goes in the cushion area under the center console. They are pricey thought but hit pretty decent for what they are. I use the area behind my seats for storage, my amps are under both sides of my rear bench and I currently run one DVC RF 12" in an enclosure sitting on the floor between the seats. I hardly ever have a 3rd person in the back seat so it doesn't impact anything.
One of these days I will build my own center console sub box and get rid of the enclosure on the floor. Until then it works.
