Muffler Removed

About a year and a half ago I replaced the exhaust system on my '03, 6.0L with a 4in MBRP.

I kept the turbo down pipe, removed the cat and replaced it with a 4in "test pipe". From there, 4in all the way to the rear (it's a CC, LB) with the MBRP muffler.

This past weekend, I removed the muffler and replaced it with a straight pipe to hear how it would sound.

I like it. The turbo whistle is a little more noticable over the mufflered exhaust, which is cool, and the low-tone rumble is really prevalent is the 1800 to 3000 rpm range, something that wasn't that noticable before.

The exhaust sound isn't obnoxious and not any louder then before when cruzing at highway speed.

....and the question is?????? In case you wnat to know what that will gain you..... a smile!

Your fuel mileage will go down because you end up lowering the right rear window and driving around at a higher RPM to listen to it!!! LOL

That's exactly it . . . . . windows down, rear slider window open, fuel gauge down . . . . . good stuff!

Hello I have a 2003 6.0 as well. Turbo back no cat but a muffler. Do you have a tuner for yours? Or a cold air intake? Do you see more power with no muffler? I have a helicopter sound out of mine when I jump on it do you have that? My whistle is very loud is yours? I have no tuner but looking to put one on it. I just replaced by turbo as well.

Thanks

I do not have a tuner or a cold air intake. The engine is stock except for a coolent bypass filter and CCV modification. I do have a loud whistle but do not have the helicopter sound.

My 6.0 is a very early one (I ordered the truck with the 7.3 only to have the dealer call me a week later to tell me all 7.3's were gone and I would have to go with the 6.0 if I wanted a diesel; glad I did). It's also a CC, LB.

My truck has 140K on it now and the only replacement part on the engine was an ICP sensor at 3K. Unless your repalce the head studs, I don't know about installing a tuner; could have some head gasket problems.
