I'm going to get my truck and trailers inspected and apply for my USDOT number.

Question. Does my truck need a muffler to pass this inspection? I'm thinking no as it has a turbo....or am I wrong?

Anyone have to do this inspection on their rigs?

 

It depends on the state.

I have to get a yearly safety inspection just to register my truck in NC, and they require a muffler besides the turbo.

I solved that problem by buying a 4" diameter glasspack from Summit Racing that's only 8" long. Doesn't do anything to muffle the sound but it's a muffler and it's on my exhaust. haha

 

I have a magnaflow to put on if needed. May do it anyway just to listend to a different sound, although turbo whistle is some sweet music.

 

Nothing special for the inspetion. All lights working,hi/low beam, some have a breaking test(not sure if still applys),really no big deal. I drive the big trucks but used to do the test yrs ago. Tire wear is looked at, suspenion, ball joints tie rod ends,sway bar links mostly visual stuff.
