I've noticed alot of users on here say to use only the ford or racor oil filter. Why is that? I've been using the Puralator Pure One on my truck and it seems to be a quality filter.
There have been dimensional and quality issues with other filters. The 6.0's are very sensitive to dirty oil so the thought is why chance it. Keep with the OEM filters for both the oil and the fuel(s).
the new purolator is the same as racor & motorcraft just packaged different, just like fram. The older version was a will-fit filter and was a two piece design, so as long as you use the updated filter you are using the right one.

While I can agree with this in concept, I still have an issue with it.
There is relatively no way you can monitor whether or not the aftermarket is making subtle changes to save money. You can carefully inspect each purchase for the design, dimensions, patent numbers and then PROBABLY be correct in your choice. Most people will not do that and will read a post recommending the aftermarket and go with it - never to think about it again (unless maybe when a problem arises).
With Racor, International, or Motorcraft, you can be fairly certain you are getting what you need.
It really is CRAZY to take this risk for $20 to $50 a year.

How many engines did they ruin before they came to this brilliant conclusion? Think they owe us an explanation? Maybe an apology? How about we just never trust them again? Works for me.

Sounds like Bill is fired-up, can't say I blame him either.
Stick with Motorcraft or Racor. You have an expensive truck don't try to save a couple of bucks on one of the most important components and trash your engine.

LOL, no but I would be if their filter screwed up my motor. I said the same thing about Fram yesterday, sort of. I know that Fram repackages Racor, but what if they lose that contract tomorrow and start making their own. Will they tell us? Most of us here would see it right away, but less knowledgeable people might not. So I would buy a Fram, or even a Purolator in an emergency, but I won't make a habit of it.
