changing from twin to solid beam?

I dont have a bunch of money to put into my 66 ford to slam it on the ground like i want...especially with having twin beams....would it be way to much work to convert the front back to a 64 ford setup with a solid beam and leaf springs? Is that even a feasable option? And yes I know that I can buy drop beams, or convert the front to a crown vic, or mustang II front end....but way outta my budget for now! Thanks for any answers!

Have you thought of enjoying your truck and start a savings account building funds for the remodel?

This is easy John. You're not being imaginative enough.

Sell 66. Buy solid axle 61-64. Problem solved.

hotrod, by the time you purchase the solid axle and do the mods needed to fit to your truck, you may be deeper $-wise than the drop beams. That said, your name indicates that your 66 may be an F250. I'm not sure if they make drop beams for the 250.

the f-100 may be a better base to work with to get er down to the ground

Well I got the truck for a hell of a deal.... im talking like maybe 300 bucks and the thing runs and drives with rebuilt engine and trans plus its way to solid and straight to get rid of and end up with a ford in even worse shape. I would save up to do some extreme mods, but with getting underpaid at work and trying to save money to have my own place again....its pretty difficult to save money for another ford or for all the parts to lower mine the way i want! I guess Ill just have to enjoy it for now!! And yes it is an f-250....but its in mid process getting converted to f-100 running gear, I got a 78 ford 9 inch in the back and a friend of mine is selling me a complete 71 f-100 front end for a hundred bucks.

That brings me to another question...i was told that by switching to f-100 beams from f-250 beams that I might gain around an inch of extra drop? Is there any truth to that? Thanks for any answers you may have!
