My dad finished machining the caps and barbs and sent them to me. These arrived today.
Everything is made of a high quality aluminum. I'm going to TIG the barbs onto the cap barrels. I definitely don't trust my own welding skills. LOL. He sent me some super fine emery cloth to polish everything nice after welding.
Do you think I should have a steel rod that fits with a tight tolerance into the caps for the welding process? At first I thought of using an old injector, but I don't think the viton o-rings would fare so well.
He specializes in prototyping and machines everything by hand. I'm going to revise my cad drawing to his design and it'll be ready to import into cad-cam for a cnc setup. I'm crossing my fingers to get these welded this weekend.
I installed one onto an injector that has o-rings on it. It fit great. I think these should work, but can't be sure until installed.
I'd make a holding jig for welding the barbs in. Probably a piece of steel
-.002" of items bore, to try to elimanate any heat distortion. The next set I'd also consider an interference fit and locktite /press fit the barbs in.
