wish I had somebody out here that was as committed to this as yall! I would love to run B fuel as apposed to this horrible california petro diesel... I got about 2mpg better average when I was living in texas last summer, and better power. Just because their diesel is better than this crap out here... mmm mmm mmm shame...
That's what I'm saying. If you process the WVO using Methanol and lye, it removes the bad fats and impurities and you end up with Biodiesel and Glycerol left over.
Running straight WVO just filtered isn't very good for the engine because it still has all the fats in it.
Well my Ma makes home made lye soap and we (Mainly me) want to make B-Fuel but I think she's more intrested in it where she can get soap from it. I can't wait to get things rolling.
The glycerol by-product from the biodiesel process makes an excellent soap. If you use KOH it will produce a liquid soap, and if you use NaOH it will give you a hard bar soap.
lol Just heard the same smeal from my mom, she makes home made soap, I love the soap she makes where she puts coconut oil in it, great for a sun burn. But thanks for the info, I cant wait to try some biodiesel biproduct soap.
Yeah, I heard about a few having fun with the glycerol by product from processing. Who knows.. I might dink with it a little, later on! Nothing like getting dirty, then having something left to get clean! I heard it does wonders for laundry too!
This whole B-100 deal never came to mind much until I started my diesel swap. My tractors use diesel, but I didnt use enough fuel to worry about it. Now with the tractors and the truck... It makes sense to make the stuff, especially with all the road trips I make all year long! Save a few bucks!
Cowboy, just go to the forum on alternative fuels. Fabman is the guru on this subject. He helped me tremendously when I first got started. I have been running it 4 plus years and my buddy we work together on processing it has been using it 3 years. No problems. When you process it correctly only problems is it cleans entire fuel system so have some spare filters. We have a sweet deal with our oil suppliers. Can't reveal too much about them gotta protect our supply. Good luck. PM if you have questions and I will try to help you. Jeep
I went to work building my machine (well gathering parts, really) and apparently everyone around here does it because I cant get hooked up with a restaurant for the oil. Its a big deal here; ppl are even stealing the oil .....so I gave up
lol supply and demand. unbeleivable people are going to the lengths of stealing used vegetable oil.
