Had to get my truck towed today because the passenger side metal fuel line wore through and the fuel got all over the clutch an caused it to slip.... but I was just wondering whats the best way to go about changing this fuel line?
Ill be doing one soon i heard they pulled the turbo off when they brazed it at our other shop. I guess theres a bracket on that side that eats holes in them. But i sometimes wonder bout those guys.... so maybe they made it harder than it really had to be to.
I was hoping I wouldnt here that I have to take the turbo off I'm at school right now about 700 miles from home and have limited tools to fix it with and I really would like to avoid taking it to someone.
well these same guys twist engine harness together wrap the connection with tape when the put a engine in lol so like i said i dont know bout them but thats what i heard they did. Honestly im not real excited bout doing it myself......I remember that aft fitting on a engine i messed with in a 95 and it was a pain on it.
Haha yeah tomorrow after school I'm going to pull off all the inter cooler pipes and boots and see what I can to hopefully it turns out ok but that aft one really looks like a nightmare.
let me know how it works out so i may have a idea when i do this one. I think its possible i kinda looked at one the other day when i was fixing a injector harness looks to me like enough patience it could maybe be done....guess ill find out. If you feel like throwin somethin in the process remember its just a dumb hunk of iron lol
If I remember correctly don't have to pull the turbo. Just pull the spider. The rear fitting will still be a PIA. with the spider off you can easily see the clamp that rubs a hole in the line. When you reinstall the line, put a piece of rubber tubeing between the clamp and line to keep it from happening again.

Thanks for the info I went to the stealership today and they want 91$ plus tax for the line which I guess it could be worse. But when I crawled under my truck and when they towed my truck they put the chain over the track bar and bent it so now I have to deal with that now but I called them and it seems like there actually going to do something about it.
Wow, time to find someone else to do the towing if they are stupid enough to put a chain over the track bar considering there are hooks on the truck to attach too. Idiots!
So this is the P-Clamp on top of the engine, correct?
Haha yeah I was thinking the same thing I was wondering why they didnt just go to the hooks on the front? and yes its that p clamp on the top of the engine that wears through the line.... and I'm not sure what fuel sleaves are sorry I'm a newbie but I dont think it did because all I got was the line with the fittings on it. But I am in Northern British Columbia so that would explain the difference in price.
and once again thanks for all the help
