I put a Holley 4160 on my 78 F250 a few years back and from the start I couldn't get full opening on the primaries because of the pesky throttle rod that Ford decided to use. Today I tried to fix that by making a bracket to reposition the throttle lever stud and it was a mild improvement but I'm finding the geometry just doesn't work unless I move the carb higher off the manifold, which I can't do without changing my air cleaner.
Forget that, now I'd like to improve performance by changing the secondary spring, I believe there's a black one in there now, the stiffest of the whole set. Here are the facts:
-Basically stock 78 460 with a glasspack.
-750 CFM Holley 4160 with maybe 2/3 opening on the primaries
What spring do you think I should try for a little more passing power?
