Towing Capacity

I just need the numbers for the '92 E350 138" WB, 7.5L, 4.10 gears.

I have the OEM towing package, trani cooler, HD springs, W/D and sway control hitch, understand frontal area, GVW, and GVCW ect....

I just need the number. I'm guessing about 9000lbs

Now for safe handling, easy maneuvering, and white knuckle free towing, derate it by 20 to 30%.

Perfect thank you, can't believe 3.54 only cost me 1000lbs. Might be worth a switch.

Yupper always do. Won't tow unless I have a 25% reserve. So in this case nothing more then 7500. My trailer typically loaded is 7450.

With that level of derating, you have a whopping safety margin even if your brakes are nearly worn, if the trailer is not quite well balanced, and the tongue weight not quite right, or what not.

I learned my lesson the hard way when once, I towed a 7,500lb trailer with a vehicle "rated" by a maker (not Ford) for 7,000.

It was hairy -- and I kept monitoring the tires (which were squatting pretty low) and heating up during the tow.

From that time onwards, I slashed what the makers claimed by a lot... and enjoyed every one of my tows.

Especially when I pass by an overturned truck-trailer that clearly, was either at the towing limit or over.

Godspeed.

I doubt it, it is going to be about 10 mpg no matter what you have with the 460. The only ones I have seen get good mpg where EFI trucks with the 5 speed.
