Getting a feel for the new truck, and seeing what needs work here and there She's a work in progress ....
Question for you gurus.... I have this sound under acceleration that almost sounds like a metallic rattle snake sound ? (if that makes sense). I'm guessing either exhaust leak OR heat shield rattle maybe?
Anyone here experience that and offer any pointers/ advice?
On my Taurus, I thought my cat had clogged up or busted, so I took a look at it. It was just the heat shield had come loose. On thing that drew me to it was if I killed the engine, I could hear a rattle, which was the heat shield. It wasn't necessarily during acceleration, however we're talking apples and oranges here...taurus vs Ex.
I took it into the dealership (god bless extended warrenties I ALWAYS buy) and there are 2 busted studs @ the exhaust manifold. I'm not going to even attempt this one on my own. Dont have a garage that fits the beast, and sitting out on a gravel driveway is not my idea of fun While it's in, I'll have them look at a few other things
Other than that, the ex is great, she has her rough edges, but nothing a little TLC can't fix.
