MAN there is a lot of great information here, I saw a thread discussing a thump or clunking sound when driving but I cannot find it again - I have a 99 F250 4X4 that when I am turning but mostly when going over bumps it will sometimes make this thunking sound - sounds like it is hitting right at my feet.
The write up I saw had several possible solutions and some instructions as to go about fixing them that included lubing certian suspension components in the front. Not even sure which forum I saw it in but thought I was in this one. I did a search on thunk but did not find the posting that I initially saw :-(.
Check for worn components --- from ball joints onwards.
And shocks.
If it is a "clang" metallic sound - check the sway bar ends.
A known problem.
Lift - none, tires, shocks new, leaf springs also look fairly new - was just inspected and they gave the front end a "clean bill of health" but there is something going on under there. I would not describe the noise as a "clang" but more of a "thunk".
