High mileage V-10's,

anyone over 150K miles, what oil do you use, and what's your change interval?

My dad's 2000 F350 2WD tow truck (repo truck) has about 320,000 miles on it. Pennzoil changes every 2,000 miles without exception. Still gets 12MPG.

2001 F250 CC LB 4x4 Lariat 6.8
243, 000 km (151,000 miles)
Change every 5000 km (3000 miles)
Ford 5w-20 from the dealer - I understand it is straight dino in Canada, not semi-synthetic like in the US, and we also cannot buy it at Walmart. I would estimate that 60 - 70 % of those miles are towing anywhere from 2500 - 10 000 lbs.

176k on my Excursion and towing 8k - 12k lbs with it daily and still running just fine.

Uses about 1 quart of oil between oil changes.

Use Motorcraft syn blend 5w-20.

I tried Mobile 1 and my consumption went up over double.

I'm at 285K and I want to know the same. I looked up 5W20 on the Internet but I think its just a preference. I think a thicker oil would be better! Just my thoughts?

That's not what the Ford engineers think.

I know they don't think that but everyone has their own oil preference! My buddy uses Rotella tractor oil on his GMC. I would like to know what to use on my 285K 1999 V10! I
don't have a preference. I just want to take care of my V10. Any Suggestions???
