Hmmmmm
Here is my guess.
You get $20 rebate by mail for getting 3 1 gallon bottles of Rotella.
They are clearing out inventory --- a very short fuse on the dates.
Bet you new Rotella is coming with a CK-4 rating in another 2 months.

Rotella just came out with a new formula T, T5 and T6 with the adaptive molecules as part of their new formual.
What's the story on the CK-4 formula?

CK-4 is the successor to CJ-4, the current latest API standard.
It is being furiously worked on behind the scenes by every oil / additive manufacture.

I can think of one that might not be working so hard as their supposed true synthetic oil isn't even up to CJ-4 spec, but I digress.

Yeah, I usually run MC 15w40, but I think I'll buy the rotella for this next winter. I can't help myself. The $20 rebate is too much for me to pass up.

Heck, It's the least I can do, considering all the good information I've received from people on this forum.

CK-4, aka ASTM PC-11:
Please go to page 32 of this presentation to see what is tested for oil.
http://www.jalos.or.jp/onfile/pdf/2009_DEO_Seminar.pdf
Also:
Please see page 91 for biodiesel and engine oils...
http://www.jalos.or.jp/onfile/pdf/2009_DEO_Seminar.pdf
Things are not so simple as to just use biodiesel and there are no issues beside the fuel system.
It directly affects lubrication.
As for what ASTM PC-11 aka CK-4 addresses, the hot button issues are:
- emissions
- biodiesel
I cannot say much more.

Why are you against using a synthetic your 6.0L PSD?
