have a 72 f100, currently has 8 lug 16in wheels. is there any reason why it would not be as simple as changing hub/ rotor assembly to put wheels on that i want? or, what do i have to do to put a nice set of cregar (for example) mags on it?

No F100 came with 8 lug wheels, which have a 6.50" bolt circle pattern. These wheels were used on 1953/96 F250's and 1967/96 F350's.
All 1953/79 F100's came with 5 lug wheels on a 5.50" bolt circle as did all 1975/96 F150's.
Some 1980/83 F100 wheels have a 5.50" bolt circle, some have a 4.50" bolt circle.
If your trucks VIN begins with F25 (F250) or F35 (F350), it's not an F100, which begins with F10.
i really believe that the truck is all original. i am only the 3rd owner.
It cannot be all original if it's an F100 with 8 lug wheels.
How many 1953/83 F100's came with 8 lug wheels? N-O-N-E = NONE!
Not only are the wheels between an F100 and F250 different, but so are the front/rear brakes, front/rear suspension, rear axle and the frame...just to name a few things.
My guess is...someone lost the title, or bought the truck as a theft recovery or from a junkyard, then used a title from an F100 to register it.
Or, a former owner swapped frames using one from a F250 on an F100.
wow, really? that's it? there's no way i can change that? i guess i had hopes of a certain look i was after, but, i guess i'll just have to think along a different line, huh? thanx for the advise. it's crazy, it seems i don't even know what i have. i've posted some pics. would u please take a look and tell me what you think?
Check the vin on the driver's side cab sticker and also on the frame . Someone could have changed the cab at one time or the door. Does it have a reconstruct title? Unless somebody changed out the front spindles and hubs and the rear axle to a Dana 60.
