knocking...efi problem?
recently after tearing my manifold off to replace a valve cover gasket i accidently broke some brittle vaccum lines, and may have forgot to reconnect a wire or two, i tried to plug all the empty vacuum spaces because there was no way of reconnecting them, could this result in my new found knocking noise? sounds like a piston knock, the engine does have 145,000 miles on it, and it seems the head gasket is going now too, im saving for a new engine but in the meantime is there a simple solution to this problem to hold me over till i get the coin for the big 8?

Get some 3/32" ID rubber vacuum line and use it to splice the broken ones.
No vacuum leak or vacuum-controlled system should cause and engine "knock", other than valve tap/dieseling/preignition/knocking from the lean mix.
