Yaaaaaaaaaaa......who needs all that stuff?.......oh wait, crap, I drive a Ford
Hey TCAT....shouldn't be too hard to find yourself a dogger or chebby truck.......not sure about where you live, but around here, I see them sitting along the side of the road all the time....
I find it interesting that the OP thinks Ford should step up and fix his problem after the warranty expired...and...is upset that they won't. Apparently he thinks Ford is that church...you know the one..."Our Lady Of Perpetual Care"!!!
I tried to rep all who answered him...but...the FTE Rep Police say I've given out enough for now!!!
Sorry to hear that tcat. In 1994, I bought my 1990 F150 from my mom-in-law with 96,000+/- miles on it. It had the 6 year 100,000 mi warranty. Trans started hitting a little harder then usual at 98,000, so I took it to Garden Grove Ford, warranty was still in previous owners name, they said "don't worry, we'll put in a new trans". It was a factory warranted rebuilt trans that worked fine until I sold it with over 180,000.
I have nothing but good to say about Ford and their warranties!
The only Doggy worth anything at all has a Cummins under the hood, not a hemi. It's usually also a 6 speed manual tranny.
An exception can certainly be made for that combo I guess.....Helluva diesel!
There are a few fords running around out there with a Cummins under the hood.
Anyone seen Hardrkn's 69 crew cab conversion thread? ...I believe he's modifying a Cummins for the truck.
A tranny ought to last longer than 40K miles. That sucks, my friend.
Exactly. Here' a guy who says he has been a Ford owner for 39 years. He comes to us with a desperate plea for love and understanding. Hopeing his blue oval brothers will talk him out of doing the unthinkable. Instead they give him the finger and show him the door.

time to switch. my 06 f-150 trans went out with 40,000 miles on it and ford did nothing. all i've ever owned is fords for 39 years and thought they were the best. after my last 2 trucks 99f-350v10, 06f-1505.4 its time for change. both gm and dodge have WAY more power and better mpg. i'm also a big nascar fan and the fords have sucked for way too long. low on HP. what wins on sunday sells on monday.
Your ability to read minds explains why you're a super moderator and I'm not.
I have to ask the simple questions as the OP didn't offer anything to us but a good bye.
1. How well has the truck been maintained?
2. How much has the truck pulled and how often?
3. Was the truck bought new?
4. Did the OP have have the state of mind to call Ford Customer Service and ask for assistance on the repair since it's only 4K-5K out of warranty?
I have done this and Ford was always more than happy to meet me halfway in the repair costs.
It would have taken less effort to ask Ford for assistance than to come on here, a site that I too am a paying supporter of to bash Ford and get flamed for being stupid.
tseekins, you took the words right out of my mouth, except for the supporter part! He never said how he used his truck, I know some people who tow 8000# trailers with their Ranger, never even change oil much less do any tranny service, then wonder why the tranny is slipping at 50000 miles! Go figure!
I once ran across a fellow from Ontario at a Bluegrass festival that installed a Perkins diesel in a late 70's F250. It was a sweet combo. There are quite a few folks that have transplanted a Cummins in place of their 6.0L Powerstroke. It works quite well. And there are a lot of folks with larger SD's with Cummins engines and Allison trannies. I would still have my SD if that combo were available in the F250/350 line.

BTW, politics will not be tolerated.
i am new to FTE however i am not new to forums, i belong to a forum for my dirt bike, and another one for my snowmobile. now let me say i maybe out of line saying this since i am new here and to ford trucks (only had my f150 for 2 months) but after reading this thread i am very disgusted with some of these reply's. i have posted similar posts when ive gotten frustrated with my dirt bike, however when i went to my brothers the calmed me down and gave solutions to my problem or helped in any way possible. never once did i get a swift kick in the rear and a big F*** you.
So hats off to horsepuller, tseekins, and slhf150 for trying to help a fellow brother out.
And Tcats I hope everything else works out for you. But if you do decide to go with another brand I can tell that the boys over at the Chevy forum sure are friendly, and most of all, not ready to jump down your throat
