I need the details of the modifications needed to use these heads on my 400 or at least a link to a thread? I've already got 9.0:1 Pistons-are these heads no longer an option? Any help would be appretiated
Look at my posting on the 400 build with 10.79:1 compression using these heads, and that's with dished (13cc) 351C Pistons.
As as far as bolting them on and the manifolds, everything is the same. Though the heads I am using use stud mounted rockers with guideplates, necessitating the use of hardened pushrods.
my calculations on KB's website calculator say that if I used the 9.0:1 400 pistons with these aussie 62cc heads that I would end up with 10.27:1 compression. I think that this is a little too much for 92 pump gas, right? any input?
I don't know how much iron you'd have to work with, but you could lean the chambers walls adjacent to the valves back a bit to improve flow (reduce shrouding) and lower the compression slightly.
the few "mates" we have from oz say that the shrouding issue is a must with thier heads. from what i gather, unshrouding the valve to close to the 4v style chamber works best.
i have been told using the "optimized" quech effect of these heads they will run 11-1 compression with out knock soon as i work all the numbers set up for a 400 build we will see what i need for gas with 10 10.5
worse thing that happens i use thicker copper gaskets to lower it down a little
