Rebuilding 390

The block is D4TE which is a 1974 truck engine correct? Also has D2s on it. Just picked it up. Burnt a valve, crank is great, so are the pistons, both have very low time on em. Putting in a new melling cam, lifters, rings, all bearings, new seats valves springs, 4 barrel edelbrock. Fairly basic rebuild. Torque cam. What kinda hp do you think ill see. 250ish?

Can't really speak to the HP output, but yes, the D4TE block is a 1974-AND-UP block.

Somewhere I read that the 1972-1975 truck engines made 201hp@4000rpm and 376tq@2600rpm. I don't know to much but that might be possible for 250? I have crazy guesses

From my understanding, HP was rated differently than it is today. I believe that it was once rated without the accessories, unlike today....just something to keep in mind.

i know somewhere around 72 they went from bhp to net. The cam is an MTF-4. Stock compression ratio which is 8.6:1 i believe. I kinda wanna try 30 degree seats and valves. 4 barrel edelbrock with a car 4b intake.
