Well i heard the grinding noise running beside a concrete wall so i stopped and jacked it up and noticed a little more play than it should. so now i have there bearings so i should have it done tonight. the 79 is done shy the front bags and if i get time i am going to redesign the rear bag setup.
my laptop broke now i am posting from my phone lol the bad just kees happening
No lets think about the good, you found the bearing before it welded up the wheel. Made a safe trip. Relatively un eventful. Your getting things done and you can still access the internet
Very true rocky it wasnt a bad trip nothing major happened that caused a major issue so all and all its all good. once i get back texas i need to find someone that can help me weld in floors and patch a spot on the back of the cab. i may just try and find a new cab not sure yet really havent probbed to see how bad the rust really is.
Thanks all for all the good lucks and wishes. I really do appresiate it. I got the police called on me tonight......the nieghbors didnt like when i fired the truck tonight for the first here. 300 inline with Headers and 3" straight pipe w/stacks inside a 1 car garage...I almost forgot how good(loud) she sounds. I cant wait to get her out on the road. Hehe
Hopefully I get to start on the air ride for the front today. If the weather holds out its been raining for the last couple of days. And my brother doesnt want to put his 32 ford out if its going to rain. The roof insert leaks. So hopefully the rain is done for a day or 2. I will try and get photos of the work and post them as soon as I can.
Well so much for getting the air ride done before the weekend. My brother keeps pushing it back and coming up with more and more excusses. So now he is saying he cant star on it till saturday which will only give me 3 to 4 days that is if we get it done on saturday or sunday to drive it and make sure everything else is going to hold. Knowing him if he keeps going the pattern he has been going he will push it again and I will have to block the front end up and hope I dont shuck a block on the trip and hope I can find someone down there that can do the job if I can get the extra money. My build has hit a brick wall at this point....I still have the transmission to deal with , the front suspension, and the overall check over of the truck along with the test drive. Worst part is the wife is super mad cause I have been spending every day in the garage from about 9am till about 1130 at night. And now with the thought of it not being done in time she is quite upset about me spending so much time with the truck and not with her. She was fine with me spending all the time on the truck if it was going with us. She knows how much I love my truck and she likes it as well but now if I have to leave it behind I will be heart broken and dont think it will ever get finish Sorry for the ranting but had to get it off my chest.
p.s. I got the laptop fixed so atleast that is going good
Me and the wife head back to Ohio(1300 miles) tomorrow for her block leave (she just came back from deployment ). I am driving back my 79 f100 that has been sitting for more than 2 years.
The list of things I need to fix (or atleast the things i know of)
1: Replace radiator
2: Replace carb with a Holley 390
3: Design and build front air suspinsion
4: Redisign the rear air ride
5: Find and fix the electrical gremlins
6: Tune-up and oil change
7: Raid the local junk yards for spare parts( if I have enough time) and an extra set of tires
All that plus anything else I find has to be done in a week and a half all while trying to spend time with family and doing the stuff my wife wants to do while we are there. Hoping to get it all done and have a few days left to drive it around to make sure no new issues come up.
We will have our horses with us in the rig thats in my avatar (wife will be driving it) so break downs will have to be minimal time while not at stopping points.
Any last minute thoughts, ideas or things i may want to watch for?
You tell your wife I appreciate her service to this country and to stay safe
I will pass the appreciation on to the wife. I will find out for sure saturday morning if the the front suspension will happen or not. If not I will make it work some how.
