What tires?

I have a 2001 F-250 CC SB 4x4, I had 305/70/16 BFG Muds on 16x10 AR Atlas wheels, Got tired of the road noise and sold them and went back to stock lariats with 265/75/16 Yoko AT/S. Yesterday I got a sweet deal on a set of '04 18" KR wheels. Was looking at what tires I should go with? I have the option to get some stock new take-off 275/70/18 Contis, but I know I don't really like them. I really want the Goodyear Duratracs, but at $250ea, it's alittle high. Any suggestions? Size too? I like the wider look, but want some traction as well, with good road manners. And I pull a 10k TT, And Looking at 5th wheels, so needs to perform well towing.

Thanks
Shane

I read a lot of good things about Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10's...might be worth a look, and reasonably priced....

don't bother with the conti, unless you drive cross country in dry weather. They are not that great in rain and terrible in snow.

No good off road either.

Only reason I would do the contis is because we have 2 set of brand new take-offs on the shelf that NO ONE wants!!!!! They are hard to sell to anyone who has had them!!! lol So I can can get them pretty much free.

And we have sold several sets of the RF10s, and yes they seem to be good, only complaints with them is they get rock chewed bad. But we live here in the Flint Hills, and ALL the tires get chewed up easy on gravel around here.

I have these in 275/70-18 KR wheels on a 04 F250 6.0L and love them. I drive paved roads, a few miles every day on gravel along with pastures and would say I'm very pleased with them. They are as quite on the highway as the previous Goodrich Rugged Trails.

I really like bfg at's or cooper st's both of these are good tires. I have seen many miles out of a set of bfg at's without any problems and the road noise is very minimal for that aggressive of a tire.

Toyo AT is a great all around tire as well. Excellent in snow and ice.

If you can get the Continentals mounted at no charge, why not give them a try? You will be able to see if the 275-70 x 18 tires fit your truck at no charge. The Continental tires work well on the road and for towing. They seem to be OK in the rain.

Snow and ice performance is nowhere as good as a BFG, Michelin or similar tire, but those tires can cost a bundle. I ran BFGs and then Michelin tires after removing the stock 18" Contis so had a chance to compare them.

The Michelin and Continentals have a smooth road ride and give equal dry. wet weather and towing performance. The BFGs do as well but give a rougher ride and make more noise especially when they have 10K miles or so on them.

The BFGs are very slightly better in the snow than the Michelins but are slightly worse when driving on ice. Essentially they have equal winter performance. Both are *much* better than the Continentals in winter.

If you check out my Nitto review thread, the Dura Highway Grapplers I reviewed are OUTRAGEOUS. I have the 285/75R16's.

Highway manners are great, rain is great, snow is decent, ice is great (lots of siping), wear is OUTSTANDING, etc. etc.

Not saying it because I got them for free to review, saying it BECAUSE.

Definitely something to look at.

Yep, also a good tire if you don't need offroad or a lot of snow performance. My dad runs the Toyo version, the Toyo HT, in the warmer half of the year and they are great. In winter he goes with a set of Toyo M55 tires. I just run the Toyo AT year round, but they also don't offer the others in my size.

I switched out my Toyo HT's for the Hankook RF10's.

Both are great tires. I put on the Hankooks for the winter, but wouldn't hesitate to go to a Toyo A/T if the price was right. I've run Toyos on everything I've driven for the past 6 years (except for these Hankooks) and think they're an excellent choice.

Well I was totally referring to the wheels!!! The only improvement in the tires is white letters look better than black wall IMO and depends on the truck and wheels!!! And they are about an inch and a 1/2 taller than the 265/75/16
