haven't been on here in a while...I started up my truck tonight when leaving work and it made this whining noise from the engine...its almost 3am and really haven't looked at it but when taking my foot off the go pedal it makes the whining noise when stopped it makes the noise and when in park it makes the noise. I can't hear it when driving, probably cause of the noise of the engine. I climbed and hovered over the engine while it was idling in my driveway and it sounded like it was coming from right around the spider at the turbo/fuel filter...any thoughts?
Try taking a hose and put one end to your ear and search the engine with the other end for the noise. Be careful to not get it caught in any moving parts.
okay...a few days have gone by and the whining noise has disappeared(I believe the 3 days with like a 100% humidity contributed to the noise), however there is one more problem. This is a tough one to explain but here it goes. I have an automatic transmission, when driving in any gear when i feather the go pedal i get this nasty vibration that feels like it is coming from the center to front of the truck. I have driven through tunnels with the windows down during this vibration period and do not hear any grinding. From a stop i accelerate through the gears with no problem, when coasting with no brake or go pedal i decelerate through the gears fine, when braking i decelerate through the gears fine. I have new rotors, new pads, new shocks, just changed the rear diff oil (no friction modifier problem), new oil, new ATF in transfer case...i can't seem to find the problem. I do have the super duty clunk (slip joint). is this an extreme case of the slip joint needing grease or am i looking at tranny problems?
