Could be, but 2006 2WD Expy is EPA rated at 12/17. 2006 2WD Navigator is EPA rated at 11/16.
2007 2WD Expy is rated at 12/18. 2WD Gator is 12/17 (6 spd auto in 2007).
So switching to reg gas in 2007 really did not hurt MPGs in the Gator.
So I am not sure this is the reason.
Good point but, all things arent equal adding the 6 speed tranny changes everything. Im sure that in 2007 adding that 6 speed tranny had alot to do with the mileage boost so they decided that they could go back to using regular gas. (better selling point to customers who dont want to buy 91 octane) And the EPA stayed off their backs too. Just speculation though. I just think of it as if it was my car company, what would I do and thats what I would do.

Got a 6 speed in my 06. Just thought I would throw that in to muddy up the water some more
Im just guessing but your truck was made in the end of the model year'06? If so then they wont change the owners manual mid year, they would wait till the next year came out.
