On my 72 F-250 there are two or three inline fuseable links at or near the alternator-voltage regulator area. If one of these fuses goes bad, what is the correct replacement part and do I need to replace the wire as well or just the fuse? This is after I find the reason the fuse failed and repair that problem before replacing the fuse. Thanks for the imput.

Thanks Million,I will start looking at my local parts supplier for a new wire. The old wire wore thru at the alternator and finally shorted itself out which explains why I keep getting power spikes . What started me looking was that the headloghts would dim way down for a second then come right back up. Thanks again.

HELP! I just bought an 88 Bronco, 302. The tach jumps up and down about 1500 rpms. It doesn't matter whether I'm setting at a stoplight or driving down the road. It also seems to do it at a consistent interval (15 seconds). This morning, it wouldn't start and I notice that the fusible link was completely melted from the solenoid to the link block. Does anyone know if these problems are interrelated? I could sure use some help!!
