Good morning Pat. Weekend was pretty lack luster. I did however get my VW running again for the first time in about a year. I need to get it road ready again since I am going back to school. This weekend we are going to go watch the fireworks at Coors Field and then try to fix the race truck again.
The transmission has been giving us headaches all year. Last year, the truck ran 11.50's on good days and 11.70's consistently. The first day out this year, with a new converter it ran 11.90's and 12.00's. Last weekend, it ran 12.00's and 12.10's. Plus, the old converter that was supposed to be broken is not broken so it has to be the transmission slipping. We are taking it out again to see if the band is glazed over and see how the clutches look. We bought a new Kevlar intermediate band, new clutch pack for second gear, new servo for the intermediate band, and a new shift lever that applies more pressure to the servo that applies more pressure to the band. In theory, it should work.
We took the new converter out and ran last week without it and it didn't make any difference. We are going to replace the parts and put the new converter back in and hope for the best.
Yeah, getting tired of dealing with it. Just too much of a pain from 800 miles away. Nice thing is, we can still use it if we go up there, my cousin won't move into it for a few years. The money from it won't hurt either.
