Morning! Boy is this week draggin'. Going to be a cool 108 today, already 88.3. I think I'll go out and waatch some concrete dry this morning before it gets any hotter.

Come to think of it Craig I can't remember if it started north or south of town, I'm thinking south, last year was the first one I went to.

 

Hi gang, another nice cool day on the mountain.

I love my neighborhood. Lately every evening turns into a block party. All the neighbors and dogs hanging out in the street, every car coming through stops to chat.... pretty nice.

The street is a loop so no through traffic.

 

Good afternoon everyone.
Michelle, I was just curious. They use to run & still might run the Las Vegas to Reno race north of town through Thorne & the back side of the lake.
But there are areas South of town they could use.
We are moving back to Hawthorne next week. My mom is 88 years old & is loosing her memory. We are hoping by going back we can help keep her independent & at home longer. My brother moved to Pahrump to be closer to her also. So it looks like we need to step up to help out. Vici will just stay in Lovelock three nights a week, since she will be on a true four day work week this next year. The cost of that won't be much more than staying in Fallon. She will only have to drive up & back once a week. So she will have more time & less driving than she had last year. She will just stay in a kitchenette motel those nights. We know the owner of one of the motels & heck $27-37/night isn't bad. The only reason she would have to stay in the $37/night room is if I wanted to come up with her or someone wanted the $27 on a monthly.
We are both looking forward to going back. One big thing is the weather is so much better there year around. Cooler in the summer & much drier, warmer in the winter & dry. A lot of snowbirds stay there. Those that want winter but not cold cold winters & little snow. That is one reason Hawthorne was chosen in the 1930s to be the largest Naval ammunition depot in the world was the year around climate. Hawthorne has the best weather in Northern Nevada year around as a rule. But now that we are going back it will have one of the coldest, & wettest is our luck. Anyway we will both be glad to leave Fallon. Fallon was never one of my favorite places.

Well I hope your mom stays well for a long time. Good thing she has you guys to take care of her. Maybe we'll see you at the race this year?

 

Thanks Michelle. We are thinking she might have a year before we have to make decisions that none of want to make, in dealing with our parents. Thank God for my friend Jim. He had to go through this with his mom a few years back. Same type of thing. I'm grateful to have Vici with me through this.

Positive thinking, I like it! 92 already at 7:30, going to be a warm one again today.

 

Good morning Michelle! We had a cold front come through early yesterday. Temps in the lower 80's until tomorrow, then back up to the 90's. Fine with me, though!

 

We could use that down here! Monsoon season starts next month though. So it will go from 110 to 80 back to 110 in 1/2 hour.
