Help! newbie w/ major problem
alright. basic info, stock 79 4wd with a dead stock motor. been rebuilding what i can afford and mostly sticking to basic tuning for power. so anyways. she stopped runnin the other day n sounded like timing. took the distributor out to find broken gears. figured id take the front off n check all the timing components since it wudnt hurt to replace them either way, well found a broken cam. small chunk still attached to the timing chain down to the 1st lobe. the next 3 lobes of the cam are sideways still in the block with what looks like a small chunk of the block gone on the pass side of where the cam should be sitting. need to know if it would possibly be salvageable or easier to start with a different engine that still runs?
