OT but is a cool early 50's hobby!!



This was built and driven by my fathers oldest brother! Plus it was sponsored by the family bizz. Now its in my hands and soon will be hanging from the garage ceiling for the rest of my life! Thats when the boys will decide what to do with it after im gone! Heck its about keeping it in the family right!!

Just a thought - I don't know anything about Soapbox Derby but they may have a Museum that would love to preserve it. It would still be owned by your family.

Ya know if you cut the transmission cross member, you could probably drop a 460 in there and really have a ride!

My boys have already asked if they can drive it!! I no sooner got it of the back of my truck and they where all over it!!! I will have to get a few pics of them in it!

my dad told me quite a few stories of when they use to ride there soap box derby cars off the biggest hill in town when he was a kid. good stories and a few good wrecks too lol. cool old car.

I built one very similar in the 50's. I never got to race it in a derby but I ran it down local hills. Those are official derby wheels (derby wheel red). They roll really well. I still have a set in my barn in good shape. My sons built a non official version (without brakes) when they were of that age using the set of wheels that I still have. It really needed brakes!
