I am planning to change the fluid and filter in my E4OD today and was wondering if the transfer case lube is intermixed with the tranny fluid? And is there a separate drain for the transfer case?
Answers appreciated! Thanks folks.
The truck in a '92 F-250 4x4.
They are separate.
Both take same fluid though.
If you're doing both buy a 5 gallon pail. E4OD takes a lot of fluid ~15 quarts or so, Tcase takes 2 or 3 IIRC.
Trans you drop the pan, unless someone installed a drain plug. (good idea to do that when you got it off)
There is a drain plug is on the TCase. there should be 2 square drive plugs.. one drain, one fill. They take either 3/8 or 1/2" socket extention. Make sure you use the extension, not just a ratchet, and be careful, the plug WILL strip.
