Not easy but you will need to put the leaf springs in the rear on the bottom of the axle which will need some cutting and welding. My 52 was lowered 9 inches by doing this and removing some of the leafs from the pack. Then up front I installed a 3 inch drop axle and removed some of the leafs and lowered it about 5 inches. None of this is easy though. Search here on this site and use Google.
pbfmav I have the front fenders from my 52 available. They need some metal welded back in. I was going to repair them but then stumbled across some better fenders. If interested in them message me and we can talk about it.
Classicperform.com CCP in California. It is a 3" drop axle. I also took a few leafs out to get the drop you see here. I have not gotten to drive this truck yet to see how I like the axle combined with the dropped tie rod ends which you will need also. It dropped the front end to where I wanted it and will come down a little more when the engine / tranny goes in. Also I do not have the front shocks installed yet. Good luck with your project.
Hi guys sorry to hi-jack your thread
I want to lower my 52 M-1 truck as well and want to put in a drop axle
twise----When you installed yours did you have to bend the steering arms down?
Hello, working on 48 f3. does anyone have any quidelines or specific recommendation regarding pulling individual leaf springs to soften ride. i see pictures of bonus built trucks ranging from 'wreckers to pole trucks' some of these front ends are down to two springs. don't know about the rears usually no close ups. the one or two that i have tracked down were sold buy third party for 'a guy that built the truck'.
I wanted to address ride quality first. then later height via bent/ dropped front axel and placing a ford f250 rear end above rear springs with shock set up like Jules Cool F1
