89 f150 5.0

I’m having trouble with my 89 f150 it has the 5.0 v8 I recently had to pull the distributor to change the icm and now it has a miss fire I tried to the adjust the timing but it’s still missing I replaced the eec relay, spark plugs, coil even put a new distributor on it it has spark it has compression and it’s getting fuel I believe it’s missing on cylinders 5 and 8 because when I pull the plugs there wet with gas

Sounds to me like you got the spark plug wires out of order.

I don’t know why you would have removed the distributor and not just turned it. If there wasn’t a misfire before then it has to be something you changed: broken/cracked plugs, wires cross firing

Did you pull the spout connector out when you set the timing?

The engine swap was done before I got the truck

Yeah the engine was already switched out when I got it. I only changed the plugs and wires I didn't mess with the distributor at all. I had to Gap all the spark plugs myself because they were they we're nowhere near where they were supposed to be. It ran actually pretty good before I switched the wires and plugs. Now possibly could be something wrong with the PCM. The reason why I think that is because it was at some point had water leaking down onto it cuz it's covered in Rust and corrosion. Ignition have been pulled in a push button put in and they got wires going straight from the push button all the way to the starter relay that they put in. Yes I got a lot of major issues in this truck. But it ran and it ran pretty good before I did the plugs so if I could start there I figured I'd switch the wires to the wrong firing order. Like I said I did not mess with the distributor at all. All the sensors on this thing look like if you touch them they were going to fall apart. I'm trying to track down any vacuum leaks or any shorts because I did have a parasitic draw when I first got the truck. I attributed that to wiring behind the CD player that was poorly installed and the 12 volt power outlet next to the ashtray.. I'm wondering what they had to remove power wise to the ignition to get it to only run through the push button. I guess what I'm trying to say is when I put a new key ignition in put everything that was there together the key still didn't work so I had to wire back up the push button. So should I try replacing the plugs again I shouldn't have to Gap them when I get them should I? And I'm wondering if plugs off in 89 or meant for an 89 are they going to be gapped different than the plugs for the 94 because I went off the Gap sticker when I set it. I'll try the firing order as y'all listed I do appreciate the help I guess that I am a rookie! I know I'm probably going to ask stupid questions and I got a lot of problems. I just don't have nobody to help me so appreciate it I really do thank you.
