Had a guy check out my 390 a few weeks ago. He ended up buying a 460 but said in the course of his research he found that some 390's have a 150 stamped backwards on the block and that may be worth more.
Anyone have a pic of where I should be looking for this?
Post this in the FE engine forum for a better answer. The mirror stamp is actually 105, not 150. Should be able to find it below the deck on driver side.
Like was mentioned it is a reverse "105" casting. Not a stamping.
They aren't really worth more than the standard "352" castings. However, the likelyhood or odds of being able to bore a 105 block to 4.13 is better than a 352 block.
Just so happens the one I just tore down has the mirror 105 casted into it. That's good news since it's already been overbored. So do these blocks have thicker cylinder walls or less core shift or something? Does the 105 indicate anything in particular?

Yeah, the one in my highboy is .060 over already with a lot of miles and it's starting to show its age. I figure the block is done so I grabbed a freebie from Chasetruck754. I'm not worried about going .060 over on it but it's .040 over now so I hope just another .020 will do it. I'll do the drill bit test tomorrow then its off to the machine shop to have the bores measured and decide wether it's worth storing or not.
