It comes with an economy tune, a towing tune with 2 HP settings and a performance tune. Along with all of that you can play with shift points and firmness, idle rpms, correct spedo for tire size and gear changes...all sorts of goodies
They both come with the preloaded tunes however i dont believe the SF3 has the ability to store the custom tunes. The X3 will disable the EGR valve for sure and i would be willing to bet the SF3 will. I have never played with an SF3, nor can i remember running across anybody here that has one. The X3 seems to be the choice for most people...havent had a problem out of mine yet.
so the X3 comes witha tune to disable the egr valve? or i have to get that put on? with the tuner in place the egr valve out wont push the truck into limp mode will it? 2007 f250
The X3 comes from the factory with the egr disable and it will not put the truck in limp mode. It just keeps the valve from modulating thus keeps exhaust out of your intake.
that isn't correct the x3 does not disable the egr nor block any codes in stock form
that is custom tune territory ,
the SF3 is the predecessor of the x3 and can store tunes and has canned tunes as well
Yea, as i said before i haven't messed with the sf3 at all...thanks for the correction, i hate to spread bad information. However under the strategy tune section when you select adjust options on the X3 there is an option that says EGR where you can select on or off. My EGR cooler is deleted so i have never messed with it. Also on the SCT site it says that the SF3 supports up to 2010 models which would make it seem not to be the predecessor...from what i have read on the page you posted, the difference between the two devices is that the SF3 retains the tunes that come preloaded and 3 custom tunes, which is not what SCT says on the site. However i am not and have never claimed to be an SCT expert. Would be interesting to see why it has EGR function but possibly doesn't work, maybe it just a function for a different type of vehicle???
that is interesting ,, I have never heard that the x3 had an egr on off selection ,, the tunes were suposedly the same for both units ? are you sure yours isn't a custom tune?
Positive, i bought it strait off the SCT site and have never bought any custom tunes for it...like i said though i have never used it. I actually still havent messed with every setting on the X3 the settings are as follows
go plug that puppy in! then see if EGR is an option when you go to load tunes,, you can always abort at the last minute ... or improve your truck tremendously with even a canned tune ! if warranty is an issue or real concern just go back to stock and clear the PCM the next day no harm no foul IMHO
The EGR function is on the same page as the tune type function...whenever you go to change tunes under the options menu you choose the tune type and then any of the functions i listed above. As i mentioned earlier my EGR cooler is plugged so the EGR valve function would do me no benefit. My valve still functions normally, however the exhaust inlet on my EGR cooler is plugged.
well you think it would still throw a code maybe not a CEL ,, but most folks just unplug it ,, and then the stock SCT tune won't block the CEL as far as I know
ps My AE and insight will pull codes the SCT doesn't show ,, specially the EGR related ones
sct has the same user manual for the 300 = x3 and 3015 sf3
here is what they list
6.0 Diesel
Towing, Street Performance, Race, Jake Brake, Locked Convert @ CT,
aggressive Tow/Haul, Lockup in 1,2,3, Speed Limiter, Shift Point Up / Down,
Shift Firmness, Idle Drive, Idle Neutral, Rev Limiter, Cooling Fans, Tire Size,
Axle Rat..
I might have to go see again what the stock tunes have ,, I did download the latest versions ,, I wonder if an older one is what you have?
