So I was outside running my bronco up and I noticed something. Its like 30' outside and I put my hand on a radiator hose, the one going to the Thermostat, and I noticed it wasnt that warm at all. This is of course 20min after it should be warm. Could it be my thermostat isnt warming up to open.....?
Also a side note...I have some aftermarket heater core hoses on my engine and I notice that if I dont drive my Bronco a lot....the hoses develop a greasy film on them and go away after I drive it.....could this indicate a leak or something......
If the upper radiator hose is not hot then either your thermostat isn't opening, or you are out of antifreeze. More than likely if you're just letting the thing idle in the driveway in cold weather, it's not getting hot enough to open the thermostat. Drive it around for a while and then open the hood and check the hose. I bet it'll be warm then.
Don't know about the heater hose thing.
Its a werid thing with the hoses..............I think maybe I just need new valve cover gaskets.........oil is just in the atmosphere of the engine......
