SInce I've had the truck (see sig) the defrost has worked great, for the passenger that is. I get almost no air from the drivers side. When plowing snow I would shove rags in the pass side to block it off wich made little to no difference. Do your guys trucks all do this (design flaw) or should I tear into the dash to see what's up?
I'd be looking for a torn or unhooked defrost duct. Ther are typically just a cardboard-type tube, or flexible plastic. They can become unhooked, torn, or plugged up pretty easy, when other work is performed under the dash.
Pulling out the radio (if equiped) will usually allow you to see them rather well.
Well, pulled the radio and everything was intact. Figured I'd actually spend the 5 minutes to remove the dash pad. The duct is full of moouse nest. To think I fought this plowing snow this winter for something so easy to fiKicks himself in a$$)
I bet it'll work WAY better next winter.....
People always wonder why I gripe about leaving stuff laying on the dash. I guess they've never had to pull a dash apart to retrieve stuff from a defroster duct/vent.
Nothing like the lovely aroma of heated rotten rat **** and dead mice!
Been there done that, just cleaned it out, I have my complete dash out, fixing the harness, the ducting and the metal bracket that the hood release attaches to and I found all kinds of nasty stuff, thinking about taking the pressure washer to it all.
