timing scatter
I was looking on summit racing's website for a new balancer for my 95 F150 302 auto and it mentioned timing scatter. Could this be the reason the motor is running rich. I know this is getting old , I'm just looking for answers. I'm going to replace the balancer anyway, just wondering if this could be the cure I'm looking for. Thanks

It has been my understanding that anything mechanicaly loose in the timing system can cause spark scatter, but it comes most often as the distributor housing wears out the & shaft begins to wobble.
Misfiring is the usual result, more pronounced at higher RPM. But an absolute cause of running rich, I couldn't say.
