Recent changes include some Innovative tunes, I usually run the Street tune. This has been for about 3-4000 miles. About 1000 miles ago I put a Diesel Site coolant filter on, changed the first filter at 600 miles. The filter did not look all that bad compared to some I have seen on here. 73000 miles on an 06 F350.
I can't see any moisture on the top of the engine and from underneath this is the uppermost wetness I can find. Can anyone tell me what the part in the pic is and if that might be the culprit? It is a slow leak, the coolant is just barely below the minimum mark after I parked it.
Can you pressure test system?? If so clean everything up with brake clean first then pressure test ant see if you can narrow it down. Any symptoms? Running higher than normal?? Smoke outta tailpipe?? Check Degas cap..
Thanks for the tips. I ordered a pressure tester to check it out tomorrow.
The only symptom is that it leaks while running, doesn't leak when parked, no wetness or dried whiteness on the top of the engine that I can see. Is the Degas bottle the overflow reservoir? I have a coolant temp gauge that reads 190 at normal operating temp even with this leak going on. I haven't noticed any smoke.
the part in question is the power steering pump. that is not the sorce. check the t-stat housing, upperhose, lowerhose and radiator nipple as suspects.
What is causing these areas to leak? Mine started in the winter especially when cold. Even today I still find some wetness in these areas but not like before.
Upper radiator hose, t-stat side hose clamp. I had to replace the factory spring clamp and replace it with a worm gear clamp. Leak solved. Hose was in good shape.
I never got to pressure test the system since I couldn't find the radiator cap. But I did remove some stuff and found that the engine side lower radiator hose clamp just up and snapped. Long enough ago to rust at the break. Thanks for all the tips guys, one less trip to the dealer!
