I once put a fuel pump in my '97 Aerostar only to start having issues with it a week and a half later. I replaced it again, the second time with a Motorcraft pump and the issues went away.
Attatch a fuel pressure gauge line to the fuel rail then tape gauge to the winshield, so you can watch the pressure while you drive.
