Same with the GV, However I want the US Gear unit as well, the GV unit attaches to the back of the transfer case on a 4x4, thus cannot be used in 4wd, if the lockout fails it could get expensive real quick, though I have never heard of it happening and most that have the GV like it.

-Enjoy

That is a possibility on the gv. I don't even have the lockout on mine so if that happens it will be driver error. lol

anybody know of any problems with the dual range? i picked it up for 50 bucks as a complete deal at the wrecking yard. so i think i did pretty good with that then there is the 100 bucks to have the drive line shortened. but it seems to work and drive real nice.

The US Gear is available in both an over drive or under drive unit.

The ratio is close to the Gear Vendors at 30% in round numbers.

Still see no reason for wanting overdrive in 4x4.
If road conditions warrant 4x4, I probably won't even be running in high gear on the four speed.

If you run on mountain passes in the wintertime, having the extra gears to split would be beneficial. If 3rd is too low and 4th is too high when loafing along...

Plus, what fun is it if you can't run 80 mph on packed snow? All the SUV's that pass me that I see upside down in the ditch, 20 miles down the road, seem to think so

Exactly, it's for the split, not the high gears ...
