Ok, I was looking for some answers about what might have been plugged into the tee on my brake booster, and there's a pic of that here, but there are a couple of other pics with questions as well. TIA for looking/answering.
Oh, it's a new-to-me 83 F-100 I6, 3 speed auto.
Here's the vac line to the brake booster with the tee in question. I don't see any loose lines laying around, but it's sucking a lot of air...
This plug runs to the A/C compressor (A/C is currently non-functional). I'm sure plugging this in, whatever it is, won't fix the A/C, but I'm curious about what it is in anticipation of one day trying to fix the A/C.
This large pipe is off the exhaust manifold, and certainly looks like something shoul be attached...
Here's an overall under the hood shot. Anything else look amiss to the casual observer?
Oh, and here's a pic of the vac tag on the rad support in case it helps anyone figure out the mystery tee.
Put a cap on that tee. No telling what was formerly hooked there, but with it open the engine won't run quite right, and the brakes won't work as well as they should.
No clue on the electric plug, unless it goes to the a/c clutch at the front of the compressor.
The large tube from the exhaust, had a preheater tube that went to the underside of the snorkle on the air cleaner.
Yes, the master cylinder leaks out the top. It still works fine, but it's on the list of things to fix.
Plugged the connector into the compressor and flipped on the AC. The compressor isn't seized, so that's good I guess. I can only get air out of the defrost vents (need to sort the blend doors I guess), and it's definitely cooler than ambient, but not cold. Can anyone tell me where the ports are so I can see if there is any pressure, and if it's still R12 or R132?
I plugged the tee. No major difference in engine or brake behavior, but it's better than having it sucking air I guess
No, no cruise control.
What would I use to reconnect the warm air supply to the carb?
You can get universal flexible aluminum tubing for this purpose at any autoparts store.
Might want to measure first to be sure to get the right diameter.
