okay tell me what you guys think about this, I have a mig welder in my garage currently setup with argon though so its really no good with dirty base material, I will wire brush the bolt and take a nut and weld it to the bolt? or I was thinking about taking a sacrificial extension and welding it to it, but all my extensions are chrome

if your talking about a bolt, then yes, what rupe said is the best option. your local autozone should have them on the shelf. its a socket with sharp reverse threads in it. just tap it on with a hammer, the more you wrench on it to loosen it the more it grips.

just with a ratchet. or breaker bar. just tap it on with a hammer and start turning.

If its a hollowed out bolt, those regular style may not work unless its sticking out a good bit. What you want is a nipple extractor set. Nipple being what you call a short piece of pipe, these thread into a pipe, or hollowed out diff/tranny drain bolt and get them out easily. I've used it on two transfer cases that had a square drive bolt size that was in between 1/2 and 3/8.

5 Piece Pipe Nipple Extractor Set

Weld a nut to it, and you heat it at the same time, which will help in removal. It also gives you a fix so that you can just throw the plug back in after you're done!

thanks for tips guys, this is what I did, #1 soaking in pb blaster, dried then wire brushed, took a sacrificial t55 torx and hammered it in then welded it, now going to attach my small 14" pipe wrench and smack it with the ballpeen and hope break the bolt loose

well I've tried welding everything onto that damn nut its just so rusted and correded its a real thorn in my side, all the welds broke I could only weld half of my sacrificial piece of leverage lol, but because I couldnt get the gun to fit on the other side as the axle was in the way, but all welds broke mainly because I could not get good fusion, I'm going to look into those nipple extractors posted above are there any other home remedies I can try? I have a valvoline and monro muffler up the street but do NOT want to bring it there as I feel I can somehow do it myself with a little help haha

Edit: I also tried hammer and chisel and did not work, only mangled the bolt

its worth going to the wrecking yard and getting a new plug. dont reuse yours.... doubt that you can get one from ford. maybe even look into a brass plug. something with a recessed allen socket.

you try taking a nut, taking the grinder to it and making it square to fit in the hole exactly. then get a pipe wrench on that....
