Driveline Issues - Please help

My truck just spit out the intermediary driveline (again) between my C6 and np205. This time it broke the yokes on both the transmission and the t-case. Now I need new yokes for both ends and can't seem to find a listing for them anywhere online. Can anyone help?

I'd like to upgrade the whole assembly (yokes and dl) to 1350 u-joints, but money's really tight right now and the driveline shop here wants to charge about $500 to do it.

I'd go pull them from a junkyard, but the nearest yard is about 150 miles away and I can't get away this weekend and am going out of state next week so it'll be 2 weeks before I can get to a yard. If I can just find a couple stock yokes to purchase for now until I can afford to upgrade that'd be awesome...

If anyone has part #s and sources I'd really appreciate it. Or if anyone has a parts truck with the pieces available I'd gladly pay you to pull the 2 yokes and ship them to me.

Thank you

How many ppl on FTE have a 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog? Very few.

How many ppl that do, know how to look up these parts? Prolly next to no one...except jermafenser & myself.

It's not that EZ, cuz the only way to find out what the slip yokes are...is to look in the front axle parts lists and look up the driveshaft, and there are literally dozens of pages of driveshafts...I kid you not.

I assume the front axle is a Dana 44, is that correct? Do you happen to have the front axle ID tag number? That would be a big help...as there are over 100 different front axle parts lists...I kid you not!

And...btw, the above catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com.

This has nothing to do with the front axle, as it's the driveshaft between the C6 automatic transmission and the NP205 transfer case (divorced) that both yokes I'm needing are attached to. Specifically, the bolt-on output yoke (not a slip yoke) on the transmission and the input yoke on the transfer case.

That said, I do have a Dana 44 front axle (no axle tag, of course) for what it's worth, and a Dana 60 rear in case you're curious.

Thank you

Thank you, that's got me closer. That's actually for a 1350 U-joint, where stock ones are 1310's. Having a part # to start the search does help though.

NumbeDummy is now giving the # for the slip joint in the middle of the driveshaft, not the flange on the transmission. He still hasn't found the part I'm looking for.

I believe that your # is correct fordsgrt. NumbeDummy needs to spend a little more time understanding what it is he's looking for.

Btw, fordsgrt, why did you upgrade to the 1350's when there are 1410's available? I'm pretty certain this is the way I'm going now. Northern Drivetrain, LLC: Spicer 3-4-2271-1 I'm tired of messing around with this driveshaft.

C5TZ4841F is the front slip yoke, the rear is a splined flange (7089).

The flange is listed under the T/C parts list, which I need the ID number of to look up.
This is what the parts catalog shows for your application, if it's incorrect, something has been changed.

Shown here: 1973/79 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog / Illustration Section 46, Page 2.

Get a copy of this parts catalog...then look for yourself.

This diagram isn't the exact one from the truck, but it will do. the parts I'm needing are at either end and are called "flange yokes" in this diagram. One bolts on the transmission and one bolts on the transfer case. I believe that the part # you've listed is for the slip yoke (one half of the drive shaft, with the splined flange being part of the other half). The reason I believe this is because the yoke on the transmission is in no way a slip yoke, it's actually fixed (bolted in place).

Does that make a little more sense? Maybe I'm wrong, but fordsrgrt gave me a # for a part that looks exactly like what I'm needing on the transmission end of things. Now I just need the t-case one.

Btw, I just bought the catalog CD from HiPoParts.com. $28.85 shipped. The $5.90 shipping is pretty steep for a CD, but whatever.

When you get your parts catalog, look at the illustration I referenced (Illustration Section 46, Page 2-1973/77 F250 4WD).

It looks nothing like the above pic you posted, it shows the entire set up: The front/intermediate/rear drive shafts, all the attaching parts, the Ford basic part numbers for all the parts.

Then go to Text, Section 48.2, page 28. This is the application chart for the intermediate coupling shafts, the first entry on this page is the same application as your truck.

Notice on the far right, that the parts list is number 56.

This parts list will be found in Text, Section 48.3, Page 2. Three parts are listed, two U-joints (B6TZ4635A & C5TZ4635F) and the slip yoke (C5TZ4841F).

You want the specs (spline count/measurements) for all the slip yokes? Go to Text, Section 48, Pages 2 & 3. The U-joint specs are listed in Text, Section 46, Page 1.

This is what I went by when I posted the slip yoke and U-joint part numbers. If something has been changed/modified from the original, who knows what the parts may be?

Yep, those are parts of the intermediate coupling shaft. I know exactly which parts you're referencing. Now how about the parts that those u-joints attach to that aren't part of the shaft, but rather are part of the transmission and t-case?

My driveshaft(intermediate coupling shaft) is fine. I need no parts for it. What I do need are the points of attachment on the transmission and t-case. Do those exist in the book?

Absolutely. All the parts are shown in Illustration Section 46, Page 2.
