Coul it be a breaker, or something else of the sorts?

It was pulled from a 74 c20 chevy, and i have no clue wha it does or what it is.

what would a relay do in the system?

I guess it could be a circut breaker as well.

Hopefully someone that knows more than we do shows up soon.

If it only has two terminals, it's probably a self-resetting circuit breaker.

A relay will require (usually) a minimum of 4 terminals.

Could also be a hi-power fuse. 30 (or higher) amp fuse.

it only has two termanals.

Now assuming that it s high power fuse, like say a 50 amp or so... would it hurt when rewiring the truck, to separate some on the attached circuits. I am thinking that by doing this i will be able to use regular 30 or less fuses on it and also have separate loops for possible trouble shooting in the future.?

How about a picture of it? Any identifying numbers or writing on it?

no alphabetic writting, one number of 55 and i dont have a camera for a pic.

Its really not that important as the truck is gettinga whole new wiring job bumper to bumper anyway. It just bugs te hell outta me when i dont know what a part is. Especially whenelectrical componets all look simular and getting the wrong one can short half the system or more.
