89 F-150, 2W/ DR. POWER STEERING IS LEAKING BAD FROM THE SHAFT ON TO THE PITMAN ARM. IS IT POSSIBLE TO PULL THE PITMAN ARE & PRY OUT THE SEAL & INSTALL A NEW SEAL OR AM I MISSING SOMETHING?????THANKS
Yea you can but check the clip and clip grove first, you can get a seal/clip kit at any auto parts easy enough.
Its important you look at the clip grove in the gear box, its got to be nice to work again.
The clip may have just rusted out and gave way, or some of the housing may be rotted away from bellow that grove or both. If it just the clip rusted no biggie but if its the grove rotted away you could try to recut it deeper again (not a easy task and iffy at best), best to just replace the gear box.
If the clip grove in the gear box and clip are both in good shape and it blew out that is a sure sign the pressure regulator is faulty, replace the power steering pump. It will just blow it out again if you try and reuse the same pump again.
