Got a recall today for my wife's 2010 escape

Program Number 10B15 for the transmission solenoid regulator valve bore to wear which could result in transmission slips and/or harsh shifts. Continuted driving with this condition may cause premature wear on the clutches. This may eventually lead to a loss of 4th through 6th gears and loss of transmission function.

Truch has only 2k miles so far. Thoughts on this? We love our little truck but hate this junk so soon after the purchase date. Must be just a learning curve with this relatively new 6 speed auto tran?

Anytime you purchase a 1st or even 2nd year vehicle, this is common. Just be thankfull that Ford is being active on this issue, unlike Toyota who was advised by US Engineers that the (new) 2002 Lexus ES300 had tranny issues- the VP responded inwriting saying it is marginally ok for production- and the owners atre still eating the trans failures today!

agreed. I guess it's not a big deal, appointment is made for next week to have it fixed. Now that I think about it my 2004 FX4 was recalled shortly after I bought it for some part of the bed that could rust away, and I looked over our old 2003 escape records, and that was recalled for the throttle cable I think shortly after we bought it.

All part of the game I guess and we will roll with the punches.

Have your recall done, Ford will take care of you one way or another if you have any other issues.

I recieved the same recall. Let me know after your appointment how long it took to do the recall work. The letter says a half day, but I live a ways from the dealer and hope I can take it there and wait for it. Thanks!

If you have more than 7K miles they are required to perform further tests. If a problem is found, they must teardown the transmission.

A reflash is a twenty minute job in itself.

well, our Escape has a little over 2k miles now, I don't see any issues but hey, if there is an issue down the line I can say that I brought it to Ford as soon as I received the recall letter. We have the extended 75k warranty so if something happens down the road hopefully it does before the warranty expires.

I'll let you guys know the time it takes to complete the recall.

Smile Recall 10B-15 no problems

I just had the recall done on my Escape it took about 40 minutes to reset the computer to what Ford wants it to do. I new I was not having a problem with slippage because fuel mileage has been 25 mpg on the computer and the other fill up it had 259 miles and i could only put 9.88 gallons in the tank. This is a 4x4 V6 auto XLT very good Ford product.

Other Ford 2005 SD XLT 4X4 V10 4.30s Auto when you have to work.

I called the dealer this morning and am taking mine in for the recall on Monday. I told him I live 50 miles away, and the Service Manager told me it is only a 30 minute job. I'll let you know how I make out.......

Is this for all 2010's with automatic? Or only up to a certain mfg. date?

Ours is a 4 cyl. FWD, built in late September, bought it in October right when it came off the car carrier for dealer stock.

Since the dealer bulletin was dated 4/19/10, I'd guess that a early build like yours would be included. A dealer can use your VIN to check.

My folks received the same recall notice this week for their 2009 Mariner purchased on 12/1/09 yet I haven't received a recall for my 2009 Escape purchased the same week. Interesting.

Just went to the mailbox and there was my recall notice. I just turned over 50,000 miles yesterday so this should be interesting.

Our 2009 Escape was recalled for the same issue. It has just over 13,000 miles. Purchased late July during cash for clunkers program. It was reflashed and checked last Tuesday. No problems were found. It took an hour or less.
