Turn signals not working

My turn signals just stopped working. Here is the trouble shooting I have done:

Measured i/p to flasher unit 12VDC.

Put in new flasher. Still no go

Measured output of flasher at steering column connector 8-9VDC

When turn signal lever is moved to wither direction this voltage drops to 0VDC. Disconnected each of the 4 wires going to each signal one at a time, measured, and then reconnected before moving on to next. Still 0VDC when lever is moved to either direction.

All 4 corners work when emergency flashers are on.

Any body else have any ideas?

Did you change the T/S flasher or the hazard lights flasher?

Do you have directional indicators on the cluster?

I changed the turn signal flasher. Actually what I did was swap the two and had the same indications. Good hazards, bad turn signals.

No directional arrows on dash, bulbs are good. No arrows with flashers on either.

Sounds like your problem is between the turn signal switch and the fuse box. Somewhere there is a high resistance and the voltage is being dropped there berfore it gets to the lights.
Since you have 0 volts at the switch when it is selected on the voltage is being dropped prior to it.
Turn the turn signals on then trace backwards until you find the 12 volts again. The problem will be where you first lose the 12 volts.
I will take a wild guess and say the problem could be the flasher connector itself.
Another even wilder guess..... fuse.

Sparky
Since the voltage is there up until the switch is selected, wouldn't the problem be between the switch and the lights, not before the switch?

Turn signals not working

Well no not actually...
The voltage can be measured because it is an open circuit. (The turn signal switch isnt made so the circuit has no ground path)
As soon as you close the circuit, by selecting the turn signal switch to left or right, thus giving it a ground thru the lightbulb you lose the voltage...correct??
Anyway there should still be 12 volts at the switch when it is closed because you haven't "used" it yet. There should be pretty much 12 volts right to the lightbulb and then 0 on the ground side...welll maybe a millivolt or too
It may not be 12volts at the lightbulb as these old wires do "use" some of it at every connection, due to corrosion age etc etc.
So if you have 12 volts into the switch, turn it on and lose the voltage the problem lies back in the circuit from there.
Whoops starting to ramble.....
