Hello my OBS brothers, I'm in need of your assistance. I'm working with a guy that has a 96 7.3. Basically, it will start once first time for the day, and run for about 1 minute before it dies. I put a tire gauge on the schraeder valve, and it'll get to at least 55 lbs, but as soon as you quit cranking, it immediately goes back to 0 psi. My e99 holds 65 psi for at least a few minutes before it bleeds down. I don't know a whole lot about the fuel system on the OBS trucks, but I'm guessing it's a bad check valve maybe? Any help you could throw my way would be appreciated!
I think with our fuel pump the pressure will drop off right away. Not electric like yours.
Not sure on the no start, hows oil level? How about the age of the oil in it? Did you check the fuel and hpop level in the bowl after it dies?
I didn't check the oil level myself, but he told me that he did and it was fine, but this is his first 7.3, but with his mechanical background I'd take his word for it being ok. The reason I think it's draining back somewhere is because the fuel gauge on my Chrysler 440 stay pressurized for a good long time before it bleeds down. I'll have him check the oil tube, but were'n not getting a code there???

NEVERMIND- I just talked to him, he said the oil is about 1/4" from the top, so that's good. He also managed to drive it around the block this morning too. Is there anything electrical that would cause it not to run? Like maybe a bad sensor or something?
OK, just talked to him, and although he swore me to secrecy, I can't have you guys going crazy thinking up reasons for the shut down. He told me that he got knee deep in the dash, and found a Viper alarm system hidden under there, and after disconnecting it and all the chickens nest associated with it, it runs faithfully now, well it ran for 20 minutes without dying, so he turned it off. I guess that was reason why? I don't know how it could be, but hell it's working fine now....
