Front Shocks

Aight I don't make new posts often but I will post this one. 87 F150, 4.9L 4Speed overdrive manual.

First off I need to provide you guys pictures of what I've done to the truck lately and I will do that tomorrow if I find my camera.

I gotta do a freeze plug tomorrow, to hopefully rid my truck of these ants and small coolant leak for good.

Truck also needs front shocks. There are what appear to be very old Sensatrac Load-Adjusters on it now (only on the front), but I was wondering what else you guys run. I don't believe Load-Adjusters are necessary on the front. Rear maybe, but not the front. I get parts at a discount, so price is not my problem, it's just that I tend to really think before I buy parts haha.

Preferences? Shocks I should avoid?

never used 5000. put the 9000's on a nissan xterra. next day did a 360 across 4 lanes on a freeway in vegas doing 75, hit an exit sign and shot rocks about as big as both my feet(size 11) onto the exit ramp and no one could get bye. we should have flipped, the shocks saved us.

The 5000's were worse than the worn out shocks I took off. Kind of like driving on the ocean in 4 ft chop. Very scary on a curvy road.

I put the Pro Comp 9000's on almost half the price of the Rancho 5000's. 4
wheel Parts said they were comparable to the Rancho 9000's.

oh ya i dont doubt that at all. pro comp is a good company with pretty fair prices. like i said i like the shocks but pricey for the quality. id rather go with probably pro comp for just shocks. skyjacker or fabtech(depending on the rig) for a lift.

I'll agree Rancho RS5000s suck for shocks they just dampen movement and are not gas charged.

I have Rancho RSX on mine and I am happy with them.

I have had the yellow Monroe Gas Magnums in the past and they are a good shock.

I know a lot of people say good things about Bilstien, but I have never used them.

you liked the monroes? i dont know what model of monroe it was but when i got some i could push the shock in and out with ease. the rancho 9000's we got, pushed it in once and it got way stiff put it on the suv and missed the bracket and i couldnt get it back up. my dad benches about 300lbs and he barely got the shock compressed a 3rd time.

Hmm, it appears that all the shocks that I can get at a discount are made by Monroe. I will check a few other stores to see what they've got around.

Monroe makes a good shock. Also, Rancho shocks aren't going to prevent a vehicle rollover.
