help with vin decode

Someone from another forum is claiming this is the vin of his 1978 4x4 F350. The decoder on this site says its not a valid number.

Two problems with that decode.
1. They didnt make a F350 Supercab 4WD in 1978
2. They didnt put a 460 in a 4WD until the mid 80's

IDK - the site I used is on Fordification.net, had X36 coming up as a 1979 4wd SuperCab. The consecutive serial # is in the 1978 range. Maybe the vin is wrong?

A69767 for a consecutive serial number is a problem for a 78. 1978 & 79 model years have two letters and four numbers for their serial number. Only '73-'77 have a single letter in the serial number.
1978 serial numbers go from AE0,001-CK9,999. If the A69767 is correct, that would be for a 1976 model year (A00,001-D25,000)
