check engine light on
my 94 f 250 4x4 has the check engine light on in the dash for the last 2 or 3 days.it only goes off after i shut the truck off then start it back up it will stay off until i drive the truck hten it comes back on.I know its an emmisons issue but how can i tell what one?would auto zone or advanced pull the code for me?Im thinking its the catalytic converter or the oxygen sensor.do parts stores sell after market catalytic converters?thanks

where can I buy the Equus 3145? would advanced auto or auto zone sell it?I never used a code reader how do I know what all the codes mean?does it come with come soft of book?where would I hook the code reader up in my 94 f 250?I had a mechaincic pull the code for me today but i want to do it myself from hear on to save money.he said I have a weak o2 sensor he said its good but weak.what is this guy talking about?doesnt weak mean bad sensor?

The code reader plugs into the diagnostic connectors shown in the link I gave you. You will also find the list of 3 digit codes on that site and what they mean.
Yes "weak" usually means bad but not dead.
If the oxygen sensor has much more that 100,000mls on it I would be inclined to replace it anyway.
